Trace is a temporary jewelry artist residence located in an empty exhibition space of Italian furniture company, the glass cube of Molteni. The residence functioned as a space to work, to live in a 6 month period and to exhibit the work.
Jewellery design is an art practice that develops through years. The methods of their work has varied from a manual stone work through digitalized engraving. We wanted to brought the concept of  ‘tracing the past’ into the space in order to manage and connects the 3 function into the space. We traced the strong axis from the existing diamond pavilion in front of the glass cube and used it as the ‘divider’ line of functions. We placed the function according to the site analysis and engraved our concept through each spaces.
Trace is a place for artist, in this case jewellery designer, to boost their inspiration, a space to raise their productivity and also to ‘sell’ their products. Therefore we designed a comfortable place to work as well as creating an experience for the visitor.
